Lip Filler FAQ

Lip Filler FAQ

1. Does it hurt? How painful is it?

Sunday Skin utilizes a variety of pain management tools to help make lip filler treatments as comfortable as possible for our clients. We use a prescription strength topical numbing cream that we apply for a minimum of 20-30 minutes prior to injection. We also have stress balls, a vibrating distraction tool and music to help with pain throughout the appointment. Finally, there is lidocaine within the filler, which makes the treatment more comfortable as the injections progress. Overall, our patients say that lip filler is a tolerable procedure and consistently leave Sunday Skin loving their results!

2. Will they look natural?

Sunday Skin's mission is to provide natural looking aesthetic results with any of our treatments or procedures. Our providers spend time before each treatment discussing the client's unique goals to ensure that the individualized results that they are seeking are successfully achieved! Clients can decide between a mini or full lip fill, which will determine the amount of volume that they client will have added to their lips!

3. How long does it last?

Lip filler is expected to last anywhere from 6-9 months. However, we advise clients to return to clinic at the six month mark to maintain the current volume and lip definition.

4. How long is the appointment?

You can expect to spend approximately one hour in clinic for a lip filler appointment.

5. What happens during the appointment?

Sunday Skin loves creating an approachable and inviting experience for our clients! You can expect to be greeted and offered a beverage while we get your paperwork signed. You will then be placed in a treatment room and meet your provider. During this time, your provider will explain the treatment in detail and answer any questions you may have. Numbing cream will be applied to your lips and your only job for the next 20-30 minutes will be to sit back, relax and listen to our in-office music. Once your lips are numbed sufficiently, your provider will set up for the treatment. Any other pain reducing tools will be provided and your lip filler treatment will start! Lip injections typically take between 10-15 minutes to ensure optimal results. To finish, your provider will show you the final results and review post care instructions. You will receive these instructions via email to review at home, as well. We do ask that all clients schedule a follow up appointment for two weeks post procedure. This time is used for viewing before and after photos and serves as an opportunity to ensure complete satisfaction with the lip filler result.

6. What products do you use?

A hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal filler is used for lip injections. Your provider will determine which HA filler is best for you based on your lip shape and desired result!

7. How much does it cost?

Sunday Skin offers two types of lip injections-a mini lip fill or a full lip fill. A mini lip fill is perfect for new lip filler patients who just want to "try out" filler and are looking for a subtle enhancement. A mini fill will define, hydrate and slightly plump the lips without being "too much". A full lip fill is for a patient looking to add noticeable volume to their lips! This is for someone who would like all the benefit of a mini lip fill with added volume and plumping.
