Everything You Need To Know
Does it hurt, and are there any side effects?
During the procedure, patients may experience a slight pinch or stinging sensation as the needle is inserted, but most people report little to no pain.
After the treatment, some patients may experience mild redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site, but these side effects are typically mild and resolve within a few hours to a few days.
How long does it take to see results, and how long do they last?
Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually over time. Most patients start to see gradual improvements in their skin’s texture and volume within a few weeks to a few months after their initial treatment.
While individual results may vary, the effects of Sculptra can last up to two years or more. However, multiple treatment sessions are usually recommended to achieve optimal results. These sessions are typically spaced several weeks apart to allow for gradual collagen stimulation and natural-looking results.
Pre-treatment guidelines
To best prepare for your appointment:
Please be aware that we strive to make you the most comfortable for this treatment. To do so, we utilized a variety of numbing and pain deterring techniques. You may have to topically numb before the treatment takes place. You will relax in one of our treatment rooms and be offered a beverage while you wait.
Please come to your appointment with clean skin. If you are unable to cleanse the skin prior, please arrive 10 minutes early so we may provide you with cleanser. We also thoroughly cleanse and disinfect the skin before your treatment, but after numbing.
If you are experiencing any active breakouts in the area we are treating, please make your provider aware before the start of your treatment.
If you are prone to cold sores or have a history of herpes, please notify your provider.
Please discontinue Asprin, Ibuprofen, Excedrin, Motrin, ginkgo biloba, ginsend, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, and vitamin A one week before your treatment, if medically appropriate and approved by your medical doctor. This helps to minimizing bleeding and the potential for bruising.
If you have a workout planned, please do so before your appointment. We recommend waiting 24 hours after treatment to workout.
If you have a special event or vacation coming up, please keep in mind that you may want to schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance.
Post-treatment guidelines
Patients should not schedule any invasive procedures for 2 weeks before or after treatment. These include but are not limited to:
- Dental cleaning or dental work
- Surgery of any kind
- Internal device placement
- Tattoo or permanent makeup
Please wait 4 weeks after recieving any type of vaccination. Please do not schedule any appointment for vaccination for 4 weeks after treatment.
Please notify your provider if you have a history of any facial surgery, including a face lift.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.
If you develop a cold/flu, cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, we recommend that you please reschedule your appointment until it resolves.
It is recommended to discontinue retinol 2-3 days before treatment to avoid any increased redness and irritation.
It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks to have dermal filler treatments performed if you have previously had cosmetic treatments with laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or micro- dermabrasion.
- Ice (but avoid firm pressure) for 15 minutes 3 times the day of treatment
- You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness/discomfort
- Massage the areas 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for 5 days after treatment

- Avoid extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Apply SPF.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to reduce bruising. You may resume other
normal activities/routines immediately - Avoid laser, IPL, or skin tightening treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks
- You may continue your topical products as mentioned above 1 week after injection
What Will My Appointment Be Like?
A 30 minutes appointment, your provider will discuss the treatment, your goals, post care instructions and schedule a two week follow up to make sure your results are optimal.
Will Botox Make Me Look Unnatural?
The key to an amazing result from Botox is finding a provider and clinic that mirrors your goals. Investigate before and after pictures, the mission of the clinic, and how the providers themselves look. This will give you a good idea of the injection style of the clinic and what results you may expect for yourself. At Sunday Skin, we pride ourselves on a customized, natural approach to injectables-especially Botox. We want you to look (and feel) like a better version of yourself when you leave us!

Post-treatment guidelines
COMMUNICATE WITH US WITHIN 14 DAYS:
Please communicate with us if you have any issues with your Botox result by 14 days after your appointment. Do not wait 20 or 30 days as time goes on it makes it more difficult to effectively address your concerns.
Botox/Dysport/Xeomin takes 2 full weeks to kick in, so we can not make any adjustments until that 2 week marker.
REFRAIN FROM THE FOLLOWING:
Do not lie down or lie on your side for 4 hours after treatment. This will prevent the botulinum toxin from drifting into unwanted areas. Simply sit, walk, or stand for the next 4 hours.
Botox can appear stiff during the first 2 weeks. Thus it is optimal to wait 3-4 weeks after Botox injections to participate in professional photos.
Do not press, massage, or manipulate the treated area for 4 hours following treatment. Allow the liquid botulinum product 4 hours to set in place before pressing on the skin. If you are applying makeup following treatment, use gentle, light strokes.
Do not perform activities involving straining, bending over, or heavy lifting for 4 hours after treatment. This is to maintain Botox in the area where it was placed.
Botulinum toxin can degrade easily. Avoid high heat or direct sunlight to the treated areas for 4 hours.
Avoid exercise for 12 hours after Botox injection.
Do not receive any spa or aesthetic dermatology treatments to your face for 3 days after botulinum injections.
